We are the Nikmo family from Petäjävesi and our story is quite ordinary when it comes to sled dogs. We fell in love with the breed and our first malamute was soon accompanied by another, cars and our home were suddenly too small to fit us all, then came the third malamute and after that the fourth... Currently we live in the countryside, 7 km from the town center, surrounded by lakes and dirt roads.
Our dogs are very important to us so it's only natural that they are tightly involved in what ever we do and where ever we go. Normally they spend their days in the kennel while we're at work, but nights they get to spend indoors if they choose to. All of them have passed the basic obedience course in a private dog school. In our opinion all the effort but to socializing and teaching basic rules to a young puppy pays back a thousand fold when they are full grown! Since our malamutes are part of our family, their wellbeing preceeds everything. Also acknowledging and supporting the pack hierarchy supports the development and continuation of healthy co-operation within the pack. Alaskan Malamute is a truly fascinating breed and sharing one's life with these wonderful and unique creatures is a wonderful experience and life style!
